I hear it too often, "no one knows we are in business", "why don't I get clients?", "we've been in business for many years but where have our customers gone?"
If you are a small business owner you have probably spoken these words. Your customers are there...there on social media, online, reading a newspaper or looking at ads however your business is not!
"But I have a website and a Facebook business page." Establishing your website and your Facebook business page are both a great start to get your business the initial exposure. A website provides your customers and prospective customers the opportunity to review your product and services like a resume for your business.
Here's is a question for you, is your website mobile friendly? Your website should be readable not only on a computer monitor but also on mobile devices. With technology increasing, your client may be searching for a business like yours on their mobile devices, that is why your website should be mobile ready. Another great start, your Facebook business page. Facebook is part of social media and digital marketing however be sure to post valuable content that will link to your website. By "valuable content", I mean, develop content (articles) that are beneficial to your customer that offer a solution. For example, if your business sells online skin products, provide the facts of your product and be transparent on how your product can solve your customer's problem.
(Here's a tip: Provide an incentive to your clients, like a BOGO (buy one, get one free) deal. Give your customer a thank you for shopping incentive. Giving a free item or even a coupon for their next purchase will have that customer coming back for more.
Be sure to truly emphasize the importance of your customers. Don't provide an incentive if you are seeking the opportunity to cash in. Use the golden rule, "do onto others as you would like them do onto you."
Besides Facebook there are other social media platforms that can be used to market your business like Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, YouTube, etc. the possibilities in getting your business exposure are endless.
So there you have it, you are off to a good start! You can scratch off your website and Facebook business page off your marketing plan checklist.
