What is personal branding?
Personal branding is the process of developing a “mark” that is created around your name or your career. You use this “mark” to express and communicate your skills, personality, and values.
We develop our personal brands around what we know and how we can do it. You provide a service that will provide a solution to your audience. Also colors and logos are part of your brand. For Hoopla we use the colors black, white and yellow and make sure to keep it consistent.
Personal brands should be important to everyone. Personal brands are not only for the entrepreneurs that own their small business. It is the secret sauce that can make you stand out of a crowd.
We have heard it often, “you’ve developed your brand so well.” Why do we get this compliment? Because we have been very thoughtful in what services we can offer our audience and demonstrate quality rather than quantity. Our mission and vision is clear as well.
Here are some basic steps to help you develop your personal brand,
1. Transparency: it should be simple but it isn't especially if you aren't clear on what to offer and what your vision and mission is. You may come across as fake if you don't develop a clear message. 2. Truth: never say that you are the expert in your field because you are not. You can say that you have developed a strategic way of doing something that others haven't. Now that is factual. Never start with fake news. 3. Tell your story: this should be easy. Introduce yourself. Tell your audience who you are and what you do for fun. Never start with "I'm Jessica and this is what I can do for you", you will lose several potential clients. People want to know who you are first so they can trust you and want to work with you.
